So suddenly, out of NOWHERE, I leave in five days.
Here are some things I've been thinking about/doing to get ready:
1. I realize that for some people, leaving home for four months isn't really a big deal. But this is without a doubt the longest I have ever been away from home. Even when I'm at school, I come home at least once a month for different reasons. I'm in constant communication with my parents no matter where I am. In Italy, I won't have a phone to contact the United States, just skype and facebook. That will DEFINITELY be an interesting transition. But I'm so excited!
2. I got my money exchanged for euros. Euros are beautiful, fancy money that you almost don't even want to spend. It should maybe be framed or something. I have no idea how Euros work. Like, if something costs 3.50 euros, how does that work? 3 euros and 50 cents? Or what? This is something I have to google before I go.
3. I can count to ten in Italian. I can say hi and bye and ciao, which works for both. I can say bathroom. I NEED TO KNOW MORE. Phrases I should practice: How much does this cost? How do I get to...? And most importantly, How do you say ____ in Italian? These are things I need to know. Seriously.
4. How does one suitcase last a person four months?
These are my main thoughts. Oh, and as I'm typing this I'm watching Jersey Shore Season 4: Italy. We'll see how much these situations actually play into my life once I get there...hahahha.
